Two minutes and forty-seven seconds into the second period Sebastion Aho opens the scoring with a wrist shot goal. That is one of two for Aho in the game as the Carolina Hurricanes (33-27-13, 79 points) beat the New Jersey Devils (27-35-12, 66 points) 3-1. This game was huge for the Hurricanes as they are looking to stay in the playoff hunt in the Eastern Conference.
The first period was a back and forth game with no one scoring. The scoring didn’t start until two minutes and forty-seven seconds into the second period with Sebastion Aho scoring. The Devils answered late in the second period with a goal by Travis Zajac, tieing the game at 1. Jeff Skinner scored in the middle of the third period to take the lead and then Sebastion Aho scored late in the third to put the game away.
This game was filled with a lot of penalties. There were 6 penalties, 3 for the Hurricanes and 3 for the Devils. This defiantly gave both teams a chance to score.
The goaltending for this game was awesome for both teams as the Hurricanes goaltender Eddie Lack had 27 saves with a save percentage of .963. The New Jersey Devil goaltender Cory Schneider had 25 saves with a save percentage of .893.
What’s next for both teams? The Carolina Hurricanes go home to Raleigh on March 27 to take on the Detriot Red Wings. The New Jersey Devils play March 26 at home versus the Dallas Stars.
